In 2011, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) introduces The Leukemia Cup Regatta to the Long Island Sound and southeast Westchester County in collaboration with Larchmont Yacht Club (LYC). The Leukemia Cup Regatta is a thrilling series of sailing events which combines the joy of boating with the important task of raising money to fight leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers. Each sailor in the Regatta series is eligible to win prizes, including the opportunity to sail in New York Harbor with Gary Jobson the weekend of October 14-16, 2011.

LYC is proud to announce that it will be hosting the Leukemia Cup Regatta on September 10 and 11. This regatta is a wonderful way for sailors to compete in the sport they love, while raising money for people who are suffering from blood cancers. To build enthusiasm for the regatta, LYC and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will be hosting the "Kick Off Party" on June 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Pandemonium, featuring a welcome speech by Gary Jobson, former America's Cup winner, US Sailing President and lymphoma survivor.

LYC is aiming for the Leukemia Cup to be one of the largest regattas on the Sound in 2011, and the event will be open to all IRC, PHRF, keelboat one-designs, Vanguard 15s, Lasers, Laser Radials, 420s and Optimists. Participants (skippers and crews, age 8 to 80) are encouraged to raise funds for this cause to sponsor their boat for the weekend. In addition, LYC is looking for volunteers to help organize various on-shore activities.

Online registration and ticket sales will close 12:00PM Friday September 9. Registration is available the morning of September 10 and tickets for the party can be bought at the door ($50). Fundraising websites will be open until October 1.
