The Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta is more than boats and crew racing. For 15 years in Virginia, it is a community coming together to invest in research to find cures for blood cancers - leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma - and to help improve the lives of patients and families.

Since 1993, participants in the Leukemia Cup Regatta events throughout the country have raised over $42 million in funding for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Thanks to people like Gary Jobson who is not only a lymphoma survivor, but the winner of the 1976 America's Cup, an ESPN commentator, and the chairperson of The Leukemia Cup campaign since its inception, the sailing community provides even more support year after year.
It's support like this that has enabled LLS over the years to fund research and discover new drug therapies, bring us closer to cures. Since 1949, the survival rate for many blood cancer patients had doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled. Today, some LLS funded drugs are used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are being tested in clinical trials for a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate. Drugs like Gleevec, Sprycel, Arinza, Tasinga and Zolinza are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.
With your support, we can beat cancer!
