Raise a Sail, Save a Life!!! The 16th Annual Leukemia Cup Regatta sets sail in Charleston Harbor on September 29, 2012. This signature event combines the joy of sailing with the important task of raising money to cure cancer. The Leukemia Cup Regatta has raised millions of dollars for lifesaving research and patient services, bringing help and hope to patients and their families.
Leukemia is the number-one disease killer of children. However, it affects eight times as many adults. The good news is that the cure rates have increased dramatically over the past 30 years. With your support, we could see the end of leukemia and lymphoma within our lifetime! These statistics are why we welcome this incredible opportunity to help others who are fighting these diseases.
The Leukemia Cup Regatta is more than boats and crews racing. It is sailors in 46 Regattas across the United States who have elevated their competition to a whole new level. Locally, it is a community of yachting enthusiasts coming together to help fight leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood cancers, through a weekend of fun events: sailing, live and silent auctions, food, music, and more!
Hats off to the Charleston sailing community for raising over $1.6 million over the past 15 years! The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society values the wonderful relationship that began with the Charleston sailing community back in 1997. Many of you have been a part of our event for all or most of the past 15 years and we are grateful to you for "going the distance" with us! We also always look forward to meeting new friends each year! We applaud and appreciate your continued support of our vital mission.
The combined efforts of our amazing planning committee, race committee, sponsors, skippers and crew, windless sailors, auction contributors, event volunteers, and guests have provided hope to the many adults and children fighting not just blood cancer but all cancer. You are truly making a difference!
