Tyler DeMille

On March 1st 2007 Tyler was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia called Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML).  His only chance at survival would be to receive a Bone Marrow Transplant.  On July 2, 2007, just one day before his first birthday, Tyler received his life saving transplant thanks to an unrelated donor named Marissa.  Today, Tyler is a happy and healthy almost 4 year old, remains 100% ?Marissa? cells and is cancer free!!!  He keeps his Mommy and Daddy busy playing with cars, creating art and running around.  He loves singing the ABC song, playing the drums and anything water!  The Leukemia Cup was the first event Tyler participated in with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and is very much looking forward to his 3rd year as an Honored Skipper!  He is getting his sea legs ready for this year and is looking forward to watching all the boats go ?splash, splash?!!.

Andrew Howson

Andrew was diagnosed with juvenile chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (JCMML) at 2 months.  After 5 rounds of chemotherapy, countless transfusions and numerous other procedures, Andrew received his bone marrow transplant on Nov. 28, 2001 at 7 months old.  This past year, Andrew decided to provide more than his face in support of the LCR ? for his 8th birthday, last May, he chose to forego presents from his friends, and instead asked them to make a contribution to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He raised more than $400 for the cause! He is very much looking forward to celebrating his ninth year of remission by returning to DC to cheer his Uncle Peter on as he returns to race with the National Capital Area. Let's hope for wind again this year!

Geoff Drucker

In 1995, at age 35, Geoff Drucker developed a rare form of acute myelogenous leukemia with a poor prognosis (estimated survival rate of 20-40%).  He underwent an initial round of intensive chemotherapy at Arlington Hospital (now Virginia Hospital Center) followed by a second hospitalization at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York for high dose chemotherapy and a third hospitalization at Sloan Kettering for a stem cell transplant.  He returned to work six months after being diagnosed.  Geoff's experience led him to volunteer as a patient advisor to other cancer survivors and as a speaker for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  He completed the Pan Mass Challenge (180-mile bike ride) in 1998 to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (which helped develop transplant procedures) and completed 2 century rides with Team In Training to commemorate the 5th and 10th anniversaries of his cancer survival (2000 and 2005).  He plans to ride in the Seagull Century this coming October to celebrate his 15th anniversary.  Geoff has degrees in law and conflict resolution and works with The McCammon Group, a dispute resolution and prevention firm.
