The National Capital Area chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was thrilled last year to offer for the first time an opportunity for Model Yacht enthusiasts to join the Leukemia Cup Regatta.
The 2011 Model Yacht Regatta will be limited to the Soling One Meter class of boats. To register click here.
-
A strong and lively one-design radio-controlled model sail boat, designed for any wind and sea condition, the Soling One Meter is forgiving in the hands of a new skipper (making it suitable for introducing newcomers to the hobby) while offering the balanced control, sensitivity to tuning, precise handling and spirited performance that keeps veteran skippers involved in the class for years.
-
The Soling One Meter is a scale model of the one-design Olympic triple-handed Soling class keelboat and was introduced to the American Model Yachting Association (AMYA) in 1993. Since that time, it has grown to become the largest class of model boats in the US registered with the American Model Yachting Association (AMYA) - with more than 2,700 hull/sail numbers assigned since the kit was first released for production ? the class is also the most geographically diverse (with fleets to be found sailing in almost every state in the United States, and in Canada, Australia, Europe and the United Kingdom).
-
The kit can be purchased in hobby stores or ordered directly from the single manufacturer,
Victor Model Products. The boat is also available factory-assembled from the manufacturer. The Soling One Meter holds its value over time, and there are often well-built boats available for resale from local fleets. For more information about the Soling One Meter please visit www.nvmyc.com or http://www.soling1m.com/
