Junior Leukemia Cup Regatta
The Junior Leukemia Cup Regatta not only challenges young sailors in a race to the finish on the water, but it also challenges them to raise money to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's fight for a cure for blood cancers. The money raised goes toward research aimed at finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma and providing critical services to patients and their families. The Junior Leukemia Cup Regatta reinforces the concept of giving back and encourages young sailors to fundraise in the name of young patients who are not able to enjoy their summer breaks because they are in treatment. Our program serves as a vessel through which these young sailors can learn not only new skills on the water but also the value of helping others.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was pleased to once again partner with the Summer Sailing School at the Washington Sailing Marina to host the 4th Annual Jr. Regatta! A special thanks to camp director Amy Zang for helping to facilitate the partnership.
All participants in the summer sailing school held at the Washington Sailing Marina had the opportunity to join the hundreds of Potomac Riving sailors and boaters in the "sail for a cure" this summer. Each sailing school student heard a special presentation by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society during their camp session and we thank the campers who accepted the challenge to raise money! We are excited to announce that this group of young sailors all together raised more than $10,100 during their 2011 summer vacation! A giant THANKS to each and every sailor who spent time collecting funds to support LLS.
