Volunteer Opportunities

The success of the Leukemia Cup Regatta depends on volunteer support. Your efforts are not only needed, but greatly appreciated by the many patients and families The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society serves each year. By request, volunteer documentation (for community service requirements) can be provided for each of the opportunities below.

If you are interested in volunteering, click on the link below to complete the volunteer interest form or contact Allison Frantz, Campaign Coordinator, at 248.581.3906 or allison.frantz@lls.org.

Leadership Board

The newly developed Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Leadership Board will help with revenue-generating activities for several LLS Michigan Chapter campaigns by identifying contacts in the community, supporting events and contributing ideas for the growth of the chapter. This board meets on a bi-monthly basis and operates independently from the LLS Michigan Board of Trustees. Interested individuals will be interviewed by LLS staff prior to acceptance on the board.

Planning Committees

Each Leukemia Cup Regatta host club has a planning committee, composed of members from the host club, members of surrounding/participating clubs, and community members. These committees play a vital role in the planning and implementation of the Leukemia Cup Regatta. The planning committees provide ideas to enhance the Regatta, organize race logistics, solicit auction/raffle donations, solicit companies for in-kind donations (food, entertainment, etc.), assist with marketing efforts and serve as volunteer leaders the day of the Regatta. If you have ideas to improve the Regatta or are willing to solicit companies for donations, we have an open spot for you on one of these committees! Most communications are through email, phone and one-on-one meetings with Leukemia Cup Regatta staff. Attendance at committee meetings in the months prior to the Regatta is required. Interested individuals will receive a detailed information packet.

Pre-event In-house Volunteers

In-house support is occasionally needed throughout the year. Opportunities include mailings, stuffing packets, filing, collating and other general office support. Also, volunteers are needed to make phone calls in the evenings and on weekends to past and current participants for recruitment and fundraising support efforts.

Pre-event Community Volunteers/Ambassadors

Spreading the word about LLS and the Leukemia Cup Regatta in the community are essential components of inviting new participants to the Regatta. Volunteers are needed to host tables with Regatta information at boat shows, distribute flyers and brochures to local businesses, attend networking events and give presentations to local organizations (Rotary clubs, etc.). If you enjoy meeting new people, visiting community businesses and/or giving presentations, please contact us today for more information!

Honored Skippers and Honored Crew

Opportunities are available for blood cancer survivors to share their journey with others. Volunteers are always needed to attend events, write letters, speak at events and share their story in print. If you or someone you know is a blood cancer survivor and would like to get involved with the Regatta as an honored skipper or honored crew member, please contact us.

"Day of" Volunteers

We need volunteers to help each Leukemia Cup Regatta event run smoothly. Volunteers are needed to assist in areas such as: set-up and clean-up, registration, handing out skipper bags, selling apparel, and other areas.
